Seaborne and Wanderborne

Seaborne

The waters of the Halcyon Domain offered an unexpected refuge from The Umbra's corruption. Seaborne communities have taken to the seas, lakes, and rivers, building their settlements on boats, floating platforms, or coastal outcrops where the water itself serves as a barrier against the darkness.

The Umbra seems to have difficulty crossing open water, making seaborne settlements relatively safe from the wandering horrors that plague the land. However, life at sea brings its own dangers—storms, sea creatures corrupted by the souls of drowned sailors, and the ever-present threat of being cut off from supplies and fresh water.

Wanderborne

Unlike the wildborne who travel as communities, wanderborne are solitary travelers or small family groups who move between settlements, never staying long in any one place. They are the traders, storytellers, and occasional mercenaries who connect the scattered communities of The Age of Umbra/03 Factions/The Enduring.

Wanderborne have no permanent home and want none. Some travel out of necessity—exiles, survivors of fallen settlements, or those marked by tragedy. Others travel by choice, believing that the freedom of the road outweighs the safety of walls. Many wanderborne have visited more Sacred Pyres than anyone else alive, making them invaluable sources of information about the state of the world.
