The Reaping Eye
Description
One of the two divine eyes of Nikta, the Shepherd of the Seasons—the great owl who maintained the balance of seasons in Fanewick. The Reaping Eye is the eye of autumn and winter, representing decay, harvest, and the necessary end of cycles. When Nikta turned this eye upon the land, it brought the time of reaping—when crops were gathered, leaves fell, and the world prepared for rest. The Reaping Eye allowed for death and dormancy, clearing away the old to make room for the new.
The Reaping Eye is the eye of endings—of completion, of nature's stern but necessary pruning.
Properties & Effects
- Induces decay, dormancy, and the natural end of growth cycles.
- Allows for death and rest, clearing the old to make room for renewal.
- Can be used to cultivate Lady's Veil, a crimson fungus capable of curing The Serpent's Sickness. The fungus requires the Reaping Eye's power of decay to grow properly.
- Without the Reaping Eye, Fanewick is trapped in eternal spring, leading to The Witherwild Corruption.
Rarity & Value
Legendary Artifact — One of a kind. The eye of a god. Priceless and irreplaceable.
The theft of the Reaping Eye is the central crime that drives the conflict in Fanewick. It saved Haven from plague but doomed Fanewick to corruption.
Source & Location
The Reaping Eye was plucked from Nikta herself by the The Witherwild/03 Factions/Haven Army under the guidance of Archmage Phylax. It is now held in Haven, where it is used to cultivate Lady's Veil to cure The Serpent's Sickness.
The eye's theft is what caused The Witherwild Corruption—and its return may be the only way to restore balance to Fanewick.
